Canada’s largest retail landlord, RioCan REIT (TSE: REI.UN.CA), started the year off strong by acquiring the 114,000 square foot shopping centre on Upper James Street for $35,180,000. Sitting on just over 11.5 acres of land, this popular shopping destination had been owned by Crombie Property Holdings for the past 13 years. At the end of 2018, RioCan had a total enterprise value of approximately $13.2 billion; making it one of Canada’s largest real estate investment trusts.
